The short version
The Layer app does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. There are no accounts, no analytics, no ads, no third-party SDKs, and no app servers.
Email updates
If you request the one-time Layer release notification or explicitly opt into the newsletter on this website, your email address is stored by Resend, the email service provider, solely for the options you selected.
Newsletter registration requires confirmation through a link sent to your email address. You are not subscribed to the newsletter until you open that link.
You can change your preferences or unsubscribe through Resend's unsubscribe page. Your address is retained until you unsubscribe or it is no longer needed for the selected updates.
Camera
Layer uses your camera for exactly one thing: showing you a live preview, in the app and in the floating Picture in Picture window. The video feed is processed entirely on your device and is never recorded, saved, or sent anywhere by Layer.
If you record your screen while using Layer, that recording is made by iOS and saved to your Photos library under your control — Layer has no access to it.
Data storage
Your preferences (window shape, filter, text overlay, zoom, mirroring) are stored locally on your device so the app looks the same on every launch. They never leave your device.
Third parties
Layer contains no third-party code that collects data. The app makes no network requests. Resend is used only by this website for the optional availability notification described above.
Changes
If a future version of Layer ever changes any of the above, this policy will be updated before that version ships, and the change will be called out in the App Store release notes.
